About the Role
SSI is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to support accurate and timely payroll processing for over 900 employees, provide guidance on payroll inquiries, reporting, reconciliations, audits, and process improvements, and collaborate with the Payroll Lead and other teams to deliver a high-quality payroll service.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with relevant Awards, legislation and SSI policies
- Manage payroll changes within the applicable pay period
- Respond to payroll enquiries with professionalism, accuracy and care
- Process complex payroll calculations, including redundancies, long service leave, overpayments and underpayments
- Support month-end and year-end payroll activities, reconciliations, reporting and audits
- Maintain payroll procedures, guides and process documentation
- Identify risks, inefficiencies and opportunities for continuous improvement
- Support payroll team functions in the Payroll Lead’s absence
Requirements
- Strong technical knowledge in payroll
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work confidently with complex payroll matters
- Ideally 7+ years’ payroll experience, including experience in a senior payroll role
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, tax, superannuation, Awards and compliance requirements
- Experience working with complex payroll calculations and payroll reconciliations
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively and build trusted relationships across the organisation
- Experience with SCHADS Award and Dayforce will be highly regarded
