About the Role

The Protection Officer (Case Supervisor) will support the implementation of Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) activities and supervise case workers to enhance their technical competence and practice. This role promotes wellbeing and ensures effective monitoring of child protection case management in accordance with interagency guidelines and organizational standards, aiming for positive outcomes for children and families.

Responsibilities

Support caseworkers to implement case management as per Standard Operating Procedures and guiding principles.
Provide weekly individual supervision to caseworkers for 1 hour each.
Facilitate weekly Case Management team meetings.
Conduct weekly case file reviews.
Monitor case documentation through file and database review.
Ensure confidentiality and adherence to data protection and information-sharing protocols.
Review and analyze caseload trends to inform programming.
Delegate tasks to caseworkers based on their profiles.
Conduct caseworkers’ capacity assessments.
Assist in developing capacity plans for caseworkers.
Provide direct case management support for high-risk and complex cases.
Engage in capacity building opportunities, including trainings and shadowing.
Ensure access to material, logistical, and technical support for the case management team.
Ensure the safety of the case management team, including provision of PPEs.
Ensure case management teams maintain up-to-date service mapping.
Provide briefings on child safeguarding and appropriate behavior with children.
Ensure all beneficiaries receive age-appropriate information about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
Carry out duties in accordance with SCI Equal Opportunities and Diversity policies.

Carry out duties in accordance with SCI Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

Demonstrated skills and experience in implementing child protection programming including Case Management.
At least 3 years in implementing and working with children and youth.
At least 2 years of experience in Child Protection Case Management.
Ability to plan, schedule, and direct the work of self and others.
High motivation to work under difficult circumstances.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to communicate a clear vision, motivation, and commitment to the safety and well-being of case workers.
Previous experience working for an NGO or other non-profit organization is preferable.
Good interpersonal, communication skills, and attention to detail.
Flexible work attitude: ability to work productively in a team environment and independently.
Ability to set work schedules and caseload/workload standards that promote effective and efficient use of staff and delivery of services.
Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values, and principles.
Good written and spoken skills in the local language.
Willingness to travel to field offices and work in difficult environments.
A commitment to children’s rights, children’s participation, and non-discrimination.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build strong relationships with partners, community, and stakeholders.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitating skills.

Experience managing child protection cases in a sensitive and child-friendly manner.

Must understand the provisions of the Child Safeguarding Policy, the Code of Conduct and Local/Country Procedures.
Must conduct themselves in accordance with the rules of the Child Safeguarding Policy.
Must ensure their work does not put children at risk.
