About the Role

University Settlement partners with over 40,000 New Yorkers annually to foster healthy, stable, and remarkable lives through effective social services. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members, maintaining clear and constant communication via email.
  • Assist the Director in overseeing daily operations for summer day camp, school recess, and afterschool programs.
  • Attend event committee meetings, weekly team meetings, and other assigned meetings.
  • Support the Director in daily parent outreach through phone calls, memos, and in-person meetings.
  • Assist in supervising group leaders, tutors, the Outreach Coordinator, and support staff.
  • Act as a liaison between after-school and school-day staff to ensure program alignment with the school-day curriculum.
  • Assist in developing and implementing curriculum, lesson plans, schedules, and rosters.
  • Help facilitate staff orientations and trainings.
  • Assist the Director in maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • Provide direct program services as an experienced staff member.
  • Assist the Director in documenting and maintaining daily enrollment and attendance data.
  • Manage program records on a daily and annual basis, including participant registration.
  • Track attendance for both staff and participants.
  • Order supplies in a timely manner and establish vendor accounts.
  • Attend relevant trainings and orientations.
  • Oversee interns, including Summer Youth Employment Workers, college interns, and volunteers.
  • Ensure completion and submission of all DYCD and DOE required incident reports.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local officials and community leaders.
  • Manage participants' Individualized Accommodation Plans.
  • Maintain Student Behavioral Support Plans and Logs.
  • Coordinate services for participants with disabilities, including hiring specialized staff or making referrals.
  • Communicate with DYCD regarding needs for specialized supports beyond the program's capacity.
  • Provide support for participants with disabilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or HSE with 5 years of after-school experience required.
  • Experience working with children is required.
  • Experience as a supervisor or coordinator is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, via phone, and in person.
  • Highly energetic, dynamic, and fast-paced.
  • Ability to multitask and strong motivation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving ability.
  • Crisis intervention skills.
  • Must be solution-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a management team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
