About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional at WellLife Network, you will provide hands-on care, encouragement, and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities. You will serve as a trusted partner in helping them achieve their goals, maintain their independence, and thrive within their homes and communities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Help with meal preparation, household chores, and maintaining a safe home environment.
- Administer medications as directed.
- Support individuals in attending medical appointments and following treatment plans.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and the use of mobility aids.
- Implement behavioral support strategies in a respectful manner.
- Provide encouragement and reassurance to promote confidence and independence.
- Plan and participate in recreational, educational, and social activities.
- Encourage community involvement to foster a sense of belonging.
- Assist with communication tools to help individuals express themselves.
- Advocate for the needs, rights, and service access of individuals.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and therapists for holistic care.
- Maintain accurate records including daily notes, progress reports, and incident reports.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency diploma.
- Fluent in English for client communication.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License with at least 2 years of driving experience for driving positions.
- Comfort operating a large vehicle for driving positions.
- Patience, compassion, and dedication to empowering others.
