About the Role

We are seeking detail-oriented and analytical Puppet Consultants to join our infrastructure team in Melbourne, Australia. This hands-on role involves using Puppet configuration management tools to automate and optimize infrastructure, collaborating with experienced consultants and cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain solutions that drive operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy Puppet manifests and modules to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) practices across the organization
  • Troubleshoot configuration management issues and optimize Puppet deployments for performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with senior consultants and DevOps teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Perform hands-on system administration tasks on Linux/Unix environments
  • Write and maintain comprehensive documentation for Puppet configurations, processes, and best practices
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of infrastructure automation practices
  • Monitor and analyze infrastructure performance, identifying opportunities for optimization
  • Support the onboarding and training of team members on Puppet tools and methodologies
  • Assist in maintaining version control systems and CI/CD pipeline integrations

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Puppet framework or similar configuration management tools
  • Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration and command-line operations
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure automation and configuration management principles
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Ruby, Bash, or Python
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (preferred)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (preferred)
  • Puppet certification or equivalent hands-on experience (preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to document technical solutions clearly
  • Valid work rights for Australia
  • Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background checking process, including probity and police checks
