About the Role
RSM is seeking a Manager to join their Consumer Goods Assurance team, offering the chance to work on diverse client engagements within the national and local Consumer Products practice. Clients range from local to international manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, and retailers.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality client service exceeding expectations, including coordinating financial statement audits and deliverables.
- Assess risk and design/communicate audit procedures to engagement teams.
- Utilize RSM’s Audit Methodology.
- Manage multiple engagement teams and conduct end-of-engagement evaluations for staff.
- Understand team member skillsets, monitor work product, and provide coaching.
- Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors, monitor productivity, and ensure adherence to schedules.
- Maintain client contact to understand business impacts on audits.
- Develop others through training and career advising.
- Stay informed on industry publications and share relevant information.
- Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as needed.
- Identify opportunities to introduce clients to other RSM services.
- Develop strategies for business growth using external relationships.
- Manage project profitability.
- Identify and communicate accounting and auditing matters to senior leadership.
- Identify performance improvement opportunities.
- Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
- Stay updated on GAAP and Firm standards/policies.
- Willingness to travel 25% of the year.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited University.
- Active CPA (or equivalent certification) required.
- 5+ years of recent assurance experience in public accounting with substantial external audit exposure.
- Strong technical proficiency in financial reporting, audit procedures, and auditing standards (GAAP, CASs, or other relevant regulatory requirements).
- Proven experience leading and managing audit engagements and teams, including planning, execution, and completion.
- Strong project management skills, including managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with personnel and clients, manage relationships, and build trust.
- Sound business judgment, risk awareness, and ethical integrity.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office and client site environment.
- Ability to work extended or non-standard hours during peak periods.
- Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours and travel to client sites.
