About the Role

As the Business Continuity and Incident Management (BCIM) Manager, you will report to the Head of Business Risk and Resilience (BRR) and be responsible for controls that mitigate the impact of disruptions. You will ensure the BCIM lifecycle, program, and Major Incident Management are effectively maintained and executed, with continuous monitoring and testing to support crisis response.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure BCM, MIM, and BCIM Lifecycle controls operate in line with established procedures and standards.
  • Ensure local Business and Functions understand the appropriateness and effectiveness of BCIM Lifecycle controls.
  • Execute control monitoring in line with standards and policy guidelines.
  • Manage identified issues and ensure mitigating activity is prioritized and actioned.
  • Identify and escalate changes in the local risk environment and agree on appropriate actions.
  • Ensure local control reporting is produced in line with regional requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the completion of Risk and Control Assessments.
  • Provide expert assistance and support to local Businesses and Functions for BIA, BCP, and BCE obligations.
  • Provide local support on the use and content quality for the Business Continuity Planning Tool and Emergency Notification System.
  • Review metrics and evaluate the completeness of Business and Functional obligations.
  • Manage the planning and execution of an effective annual business continuity program.
  • Oversee local recovery site provisioning, ensuring availability and implementation.
  • Support Real Estate Services by coordinating business recovery needs.
  • Support the effective function of OpsRes by providing BCIM content, leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure mandated MIM controls are in place to enable an effective Major Incident Group (MIG) response capability.
  • Perform threat monitoring and provide timely escalation and updates.
  • Assist the MIG Chair as Secretary for local MIG invocations.
  • Execute Emergency Notifications to impacted stakeholder groups.
  • Follow Group standards for incident logging, Emergency Notification Process, and post-incident reviews.
  • Support Business Service Owners by providing subject matter expertise and training on Business Continuity within the Operational Resilience Program.
  • Own the overall responsibility of BCIM led deliverables with the OpsRes program.
  • Support the preparation, assessment, and facilitation of tests to validate scenario severity and plausibility.
  • Undertake analysis of IBS mapping, including interdependencies.
  • Provide SME guidance for the documentation of IBS level BIAs/BCPs and Incident Management escalation structures.
  • Conduct deep dive reviews of Department level BIA/BCP contents.
  • Attend test planning & project working groups and other meetings as required.
  • Consistently evaluate the project to identify areas for improvement and take action.
  • Escalate actual and potential issues to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable, local regulation and HSBC guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable regulations on BCIM and OpsRes.
  • Execute timely submission of required items to satisfy regulatory obligations.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with local market, business and functional COOs and their teams.
  • Represent BCIM locally, act as an advocate for the Function, and ensure clear understanding of its role.
  • Establish ongoing communications with all Businesses and Functions, and senior management.
  • Participate in local risk and control forums and working groups.
  • Act as the Engagement Manager for any BCIM, locally owned, third-party relationships.
  • Engagement and participation with regional BCIM team.
  • Engagement and participation with market Performance Services (PS), and GCOO office.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, accountability and timely responses.
  • Build and motivate a capable, engaged and inquisitive local team.
  • Foster collaboration and exchange with other HSBC entities in market.
  • Support multiple functions in RES.
  • Understand the operational risks inherent in the business.

Requirements

  • Experience in risk or control management.
  • Subject matter expert and proven track record in managing a Business Continuity & Incident Management Programs.
  • Experience in managing incidents, training senior executives and facilitating crisis exercises.
  • Strong understanding of global and local Business Continuity and Incident Management requirements.
  • Ability to translate global, regional and local priorities to direct local activities.
  • Operates effectively with an ability to make decisions under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of working in highly regulated and complex international organizations.
  • Ability to balance multiple competing priorities.
