About the Role
Transform the future of AI at Zip by building production ready solutions that deliver real customer and business impact. A role in Zip's Data & AI Squad will see you partner with key stakeholders to supply fast, reliable and future proof data, powering data driven decision making on our biggest and most interesting business challenges. You'll develop advanced data science and AI solutions, leveraging machine learning and the latest AI technologies to solve complex business problems. Working closely with cross functional teams, you'll help create AI powered experiences that improve operational efficiency and enhance the experience of millions of customers who choose Zip every day. As a Senior AI Engineer, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our AI platform. This is a hands on senior individual contributor opportunity where you'll design, build and scale production grade AI capabilities while influencing technical direction and engineering excellence across the team.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver AI enabled products and platform capabilities from technical discovery through to production.
- Build scalable AI applications using Python alongside modern frontend technologies where required.
- Develop reliable, secure and observable AI systems that are designed for production from day one.
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Risk and Security teams to identify opportunities where AI can create meaningful customer and business value.
- Drive technical excellence through architecture decisions, code reviews, mentoring and engineering best practice.
- Balance experimentation with long term platform quality, operational excellence and responsible AI delivery.
- Help shape the future direction of Zip's AI platform and engineering standards.
Requirements
- Experience building production grade AI software and platforms.
- Strong experience developing AI solutions using Python together with modern cloud technologies such as AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience delivering scalable AI products using technologies including React or NextJS where appropriate.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, system design and operational excellence.
- Ability to partner with technical and non technical stakeholders to solve complex business problems.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction through collaboration and engineering leadership.
- Excellent communication skills with a pragmatic approach to balancing customer outcomes, delivery speed and technical quality.
- A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
- An aptitude for identifying and managing risks.
