About the Role
We are seeking an ambitious, entrepreneurial, and commercially-minded Account Director with a passion for purpose and sustainability to lead on exciting, purpose-driven accounts. You will be an integral strategic partner for clients, owning and managing the delivery of exceptional programs across strategic thinking, brand innovation, and storytelling. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, including purpose positioning, employee engagement, sustainability strategy, and behavior change programs. You will collaborate with specialist consultants, act as the client's representative, and be responsible for account development, relationship nurturing, and project delivery, while also contributing to new business efforts. Reporting to a Client Director, you will receive support for career development. The role involves working on projects ranging from large accounts (£800-£1M) to several smaller ones, and is ideal for an experienced agency Account Director seeking an impact-led role or a client/programme manager from an in-house or consultancy background. We value strong project management, account growth instincts, and the ability to build genuine client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Developing strong, strategic, and commercially successful client relationships.
- Establishing strong account relationships, understanding client businesses and challenges to support and challenge them in developing effective, impactful work.
- Leading business development across key accounts, identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, managing a pipeline, and converting income.
- Taking ownership of accounts within the Key Strategic Account management program and reporting performance.
- Contributing to new business meetings and pitches, authoring and delivering key sections and proposals.
- Taking responsibility for account-level finances, ensuring accurate forecasting and managing profitability.
- Serving as the primary client contact, flagging issues, and acting as a point of escalation.
- Planning and leading project delivery, including program planning and proposing activities, workstreams, and tasks with strategists.
- Running client projects collaboratively with strategists.
- Ensuring work is delivered to brief, on time, and within budget.
- Writing scope documents and budget breakdowns.
- Creating timing plans and managing project resources.
- Representing the client's voice within Anthesis.
- Authoring briefs and briefing wider teams.
- Delivering flawless work to clients in the most appropriate medium.
- Sharing knowledge and best practices with the wider team.
Requirements
- 7 years of experience as an agency account handler, in-house/consultancy program manager, or similar role.
- Demonstrable account or commercial growth experience, including experience in crafting new business proposals.
- Excellent commercial acumen, comfortable with account-level budgeting and financial tracking.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Experience (or at least a strong interest in) sustainability and positive impact.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, both internal and external.
- English language proficiency.
