About the Role
Caring Approach is seeking compassionate and professional Disability Support Workers to provide person-centred care and support to clients in their homes, promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including showering, bathing, dressing, and hygiene support.
- Complete domestic assistance and household tasks.
- Assist with meal preparation and food service.
- Provide medication assistance.
- Support participants with activities of daily living.
- Transport clients to medical appointments and community activities.
- Support participants with complex care needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the wider care team.
- Promote participant independence through person-centred support.
Requirements
- Understanding of person-centred care practices.
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible.
- Certificate III or higher in Disability, Aged Care, Community Services, or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
- Minimum six months' experience providing personal care.
- Ability to work with clients requiring palliative and complex care.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to read and interpret service information.
- Appropriate Australian working rights.
- Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Current Driver's Licence and own fully insured vehicle.
- Smartphone capable of installing workplace applications.
- Current knowledge of NSW Government vaccination requirements for essential workers.
- Empathetic and understanding approach to supporting people with complex needs, including mental health.
- Completion of the NDIS New Worker Orientation Module, or willingness to complete during induction.
- Ability to speak a second language.
- Experience supporting clients to increase their independence.
- Experience or certification in bowel care.
- Experience or certification in medication administration.
- Experience with manual handling.
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support strategies and person-centred active support.
