About the Role

This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate financial information. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing complex accounting processes, preparing financial statements, and providing expert advice on technical accounting matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors to maintain robust financial controls and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger reconciliations and coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reports, reconciliations, and statutory returns.
  • Provide financial advice, training, and operational support to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and contribute to financial reports, business cases, briefing papers, and other management submissions.
  • Analyse financial data, processes, and systems to identify trends, resolve issues, and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Support external and internal audit activities by preparing required documentation and liaising with auditors.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to support finance system implementations, integrations, upgrades, and reporting enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with business units to support financial reporting and control functions.
  • Mentor, coach, and support junior team members to build capability and promote a high-performance culture.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership CA or CPA.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, NSW Treasury Circulars, and relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial accounting within a large or complex organization.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, TM1).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Answer targeted questions regarding CPA/CA qualification and years of experience post-qualification.
  • Answer targeted questions outlining key learnings from involvement in the monthly reporting process.
