About the Role

Texas Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our Central Austin location. This role involves working collaboratively with physicians and nurses in a patient-centered environment to deliver high-quality cancer care.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to and from exam, physician, and treatment rooms.
• Record patient data including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
• Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
• Prepare and stock exam and treatment rooms.
• Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
• Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
• Maintain exam and treatment room disinfection protocols.
• Manage patient telephone calls and refer to appropriate clinical staff.
• Phone in prescriptions and make patient calls as directed.
• Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no-shows.
• Perform administrative tasks including typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception.
• Enter orders under provider supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
• Current CPR certification required for Senior level.
• Ability to handle and lift patients.
• Ability to stand and walk for extensive periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs.
• Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
