About the Role

Seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support the department with laboratory duties and ongoing research projects. The Research Assistant will be directly supervised by a postdoc and a senior member of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Interact well with other members of the laboratory.
  • Be well organized and interested in working in a high-quality research environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the principal investigator in running the laboratory.
  • Perform general laboratory duties such as inventory, organization, and pick-up of supplies.
  • Support work for ongoing projects in the laboratory.

About the Company

  • Ribosomes are molecular machines that catalyze protein synthesis in all cells.
  • The lab is interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of eukaryotic ribosome assembly.
  • The lab studies the initial events of this process by using a multidisciplinary approach that combines structural biology (X-ray crystallography and cry-EM) with biochemical, genetic, and cell biology techniques.
  • Structural and functional studies of early ribosome assembly intermediates are complemented by the biochemical characterization of multi-protein complexes.
