About the Role
Alera Group's Employee Benefits team helps organizations attract, retain, and engage their workforce through creative, compliant, and competitive benefits strategies. This Account Manager role will deliver proactive client service, thoughtful benefits strategy, and a high-touch experience for clients and employees, ensuring benefits programs are administered accurately, aligned with strategic objectives, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for clients, carriers, and vendor partners.
- Manage client service requests, resolve issues, and support ongoing benefit initiatives.
- Build trusted relationships with client HR teams and support Consultant-led strategies.
- Contribute to client meetings, presentations, and overall service delivery.
- Execute client lifecycle deliverables and ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Support the RFP process, compliance activities, and renewal strategies.
- Review plan documents, contracts, and other benefit materials for accuracy.
- Stay current on industry trends, legislation, and employee benefits best practices.
- Support retention, growth, and profitability across an assigned book of business.
- Deliver proactive service that strengthens client relationships and long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities that enhance the client experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 2–4 years of experience in a client-facing account management or client service role.
- Active Life & Health License.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits and insurance programs.
- Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- 4–7 years of employee benefits account management experience for Senior Account Manager consideration.
- Experience supporting mid-market clients.
- Experience with RFPs, renewals, compliance deliverables, and carrier negotiations.
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience.
