About the Role
We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help build the technical foundation of Coral Care's next phase of growth. You'll report directly to our Head of Engineering and work across the entire stack, the React frontend, Node.js services, and AI-powered systems. You will have real ownership over features and domains that matter, and over how well they're built. This is a role for someone who can take a scoped, ambitious problem and run with it independently.
Responsibilities
- Own specific domains within our API and data layer, implementing them independently, making sound local decisions about data modeling and access patterns, and bringing the system-wide calls to the team.
- Help execute our migration to a modern architecture, moving specific systems onto our typed TypeScript/Node.js monorepo on AWS, working to a sequencing plan the team sets together, so nothing breaks for families mid-session.
- Contribute to the matching and marketplace logic, building the systems that pair families with the right local providers, and helping ensure correctness and explainability as our AI-driven matching comes online.
- Build across the stack: React for families and providers, and the Node.js services behind them, working fluently within our infrastructure-as-code setup (AWS, CDK).
- Uphold our engineering practices, holding to the testing, code review, and design-doc standards the team sets, and helping strengthen them as you go.
- Help ensure HIPAA is a property of the system, working within the data flows, access controls, and audit paths that keep PHI handled correctly by construction.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building, shipping, and maintaining production systems.
- The ability to take a scoped problem and run with it, owning a feature or domain end to end (design, build, test, ship) with little supervision, and knowing when a decision is above your line and needs to come to the team.
- Strong opinions about the craft of software. You care about code quality, system design, testing, and the long-term health of what you build, and you know when to disagree and commit.
- A modern, intentional approach to AI in your workflow. You use AI agents on the work they're genuinely good at, then interrogate what comes back harder than a colleague's PR, and you can tell the difference between code that looks right and code that is right.
- Fluency in more than one statically typed language. We work primarily in TypeScript, but we value engineers who think beyond a single ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of API design and data access patterns, with the judgment to make sound decisions about data modeling, access patterns, and abstraction boundaries in systems that need to evolve over time.
- Comfort working in a cloud-native, infrastructure-as-code environment. We run on AWS with CDK; you should be able to work confidently within it and read the systems you deploy into.
- Experience building marketplace, matching, or network-effect products, particularly in hyper-local or two-sided contexts.
- Data engineering experience, building pipelines, working with analytics infrastructure, or designing systems that support data-driven decisions.
- Mobile application development experience, particularly in cross-platform frameworks like Flutter or React Native.
- Familiarity with healthcare technology and the regulatory landscape (HIPAA, PHI handling, etc.).
- Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.

About the Company
- At Coral Care, we believe families should never have to fight for the care their children need. Millions of young children in the U.S. experience developmental delays, yet parents often face long waitlists and complex systems. Our mission is to change that by making high-quality pediatric therapy accessible at home and in the community.
- We are a series A venture-backed platform powering a two-sided marketplace: helping families connect with trusted, local speech, occupational, and physical therapists who accept insurance, and supporting providers in building thriving private practices within their own communities.
- Since launching in 2023, Coral Care has delivered tens of thousands of therapy sessions and expanded across multiple states.
- We are a fast-growing, mission-driven team with a culture of compassion, collaboration, and momentum, and we are just getting started.
- Mission that matters. One in five children has a developmental delay or disability, and the system isn't built to serve them well. We're changing that.
- Early and high-impact. You'll join a small, senior engineering team at a company with strong product-market fit and real momentum, and what you build will directly shape the product and the company.
- Leaders who understand the problem firsthand. Our CEO founded Coral Care after experiencing the broken pediatric care system as a parent, and our Head of Engineering experienced extended pediatric care directly. This isn't an abstract problem to us.
- Backed by top investors including Haymaker, AlleyCorp, Reach Capital, FCA Ventures, and GreyMatter Capital.
