About the Role

Ursa Space transforms satellite and spatial data into actionable insights using an agentic GeoAI platform. This role focuses on building the intelligence behind the platform, involving computer vision model development and the creation of agentic systems for LLM-driven analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain agentic AI systems for geospatial analysis automation.
  • Develop tool-use, orchestration, and context-management for LLM integration with geospatial services.
  • Conduct Verification and Validation (V&V) of AI/ML and LLM outputs.
  • Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy computer vision models on Earth Observation data.
  • Adapt and fine-tune vision-language models for full scene understanding.
  • Build evaluation and observability infrastructure for ML and LLM behavior.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from data definition to production deployment and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with product owners, users, and customers to understand needs and design systems.
  • Integrate third-party and multi-source data sets into analysis pipelines.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and answer time-sensitive questions.
  • Serve as a technical resource for teammates, sharing knowledge of new models and techniques.
  • Measure observed error against budget and perform adversarial/edge-case testing.
  • Ensure confidence calibration for system outputs.
  • Demonstrate traceability and reproducibility of system outputs.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related STEM field.
  • 4–6 years of experience building and deploying machine learning systems.
  • Strong Python and production software engineering practices (Git, Docker, testing, code review, CI/CD).
  • Experience training and deploying deep learning models for computer vision tasks using PyTorch or similar frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications (prompt design, structured outputs, tool use, agentic architectures).
  • Experience evaluating ML systems with traditional and LLM/agent evaluation metrics.
  • Experience developing and deploying in AWS environments.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex systems to diverse audiences.
