About the Role
The Fundraising Content Officer is responsible for supporting marketing strategies for donor acquisition, development, and retention through the creation of compelling content and storytelling for all direct marketing activities in English and French. This role will work closely with Mass Marketing, Philanthropy, and Digital Communications teams, develop content as needed, execute the annual fundraising plan, and support strategic plan objectives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, interview sources, and create compelling content in English and French for various fundraising uses.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of content strategy for the fundraising department, mapping content needs for appeals, campaigns, and stewardship materials.
- Develop overall messaging and storytelling for quarterly fundraising campaigns.
- Write and revise content in English and French for web and print to produce compelling articles and appeals, specifically for emails, direct mail, Dépêches magazine, annual reports, and philanthropic proposals.
- Engage with internal and international staff to proactively obtain content and ensure timely use of scheduled content assets.
- Support the Digital Communications unit with bilingual content creation as needed to execute the digital fundraising strategy.
- Lead content design and editorial meetings for various bilingual fundraising campaigns.
- Proactively build a pipeline/library of tailored content stories (stories, interviews, etc.) with specific donor messaging, including tracking developments of the movement and key projects on the PDC list (countries, projects, themes) and designated donations.
- Research IMS/local/donor staff to interview and create a pipeline of high-impact stories that can be leveraged in FR donor materials.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in writing, proofreading, and editing for diverse audiences in English and French.
- A knack for storytelling and creative means to create, adapt, and deliver key messages through superior written and verbal communication suitable for multimedia formats.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to capture brand tone and voice and write for a wide variety of audiences.
- Strong computer skills and experience with databases and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in fundraising, marketing, or digital marketing communications is an asset.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- MSF Canada is unable to support the process of obtaining a work permit for candidates from outside Canada.

- Act as a writing resource and expert for the fundraising team, including proofreading and editing marketing materials for accuracy and consistency.
- Produce compelling copy and present cases for support to inspire donors to give, increase brand awareness, and engage current and potential donors.
- Write copy for digital fundraising content and campaigns, leveraging digital marketing best practices to produce e-appeals and other digital fundraising initiatives.
- Generate ideas, strategize, and create content for fundraising (direct mail campaigns and philanthropic proposals).
- Participate in editorial meetings and lead the writing for Dépêches fundraising pages, supporting the editor with overall production.
- Editing and proofreading (English and French)
- Write, revise, proofread, fact-check, and direct the production of a variety of fundraising and marketing communications materials.
- Ensure communications are accurate, clear, and complete; make necessary corrections for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and writing.
- Edit materials for brand voice and clarity consistency, working with colleagues to ensure style accuracy and maintain a consistent voice and tone aligned with the MSF brand and EDI guidelines.
- Relationship building and vendor collaboration
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build excellent working relationships with colleagues, field workers, and vendors.
- Participate regularly in campaign follow-ups and editorial meetings to evaluate program performance and support proposed improvements from partner vendors.
- Work with fundraising colleagues, liaising with the communications team and other MSF Canada departments, to ensure campaign integration and cross-departmental collaboration.
- Collaborate with various departments and teams to stay informed of their content pipeline and how it can be leveraged for PR purposes, and conversely, share our original articles with other departments.
- Stay abreast of research, fundraising trends, and development areas for content creation.

- $70,676 per year (non-negotiable)
