About the Role
In this high-impact architectural role, you will take ownership of designing, defining, and governing automated platform strategies and reusable infrastructure patterns across a complex multi-cloud enterprise environment (primarily Azure, alongside AWS). You will sit at the intersection of enterprise architecture, DevSecOps, and secure platform engineering, serving as the technical authority who bridges high-level government security requirements with scalable, "as-a-service" platform delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and definition of reusable, enterprise-grade Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns, CI/CD orchestration workflows, and "as-a-service" platform capabilities across Azure and AWS.
- Design complex integration topologies connecting infrastructure, hybrid networking (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPNs), multi-account cloud routing, and identity/access management (IAM) frameworks.
- Establish platform engineering standards, DevSecOps best practices, and automation guardrails to ensure all deployments align with enterprise architecture and government security baselines.
- Architect secure, compliant cloud environments aligned to Federal Government security controls (including ISM and IRAP frameworks).
- Partner closely with security, platform, and application teams to guide solution design, resolve root-cause platform complexities, and mentor engineering and operational staff.
- Drive platform reliability, scalability, and modern automation initiatives, keeping the multi-cloud strategy aligned with evolving business priorities and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- An active NV1 Security Clearance is strictly mandatory.
- Demonstrated track record designing and architecting automated cloud solutions across Azure and AWS environments.
- Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting, and building enterprise CI/CD orchestration workflows (e.g., Azure DevOps or similar).
- Proven experience architecting enterprise identity, access management, and hybrid/multi-cloud networking patterns.
- Experience designing secure cloud platforms within Australian Federal Government environments, with strong knowledge of government security frameworks (ISM, IRAP).
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong stakeholder engagement, and the proven ability to lead technical teams, define strategy, and produce high-quality architectural documentation.
- Relevant Professional/Expert certifications in Azure, AWS, or Cloud Automation.
- Strong background working in Agile/DevOps delivery environments across integrated enterprise ICT landscapes.
- Applicants will need to have valid work rights for Australia and be willing to undergo a comprehensive background checking process, including probity and police checks.
