About the Role
The Warehouse Manager will oversee receiving, warehouse, and distribution operations for the Direct Store Delivery (DSD) team in Bronx, NY. This role involves managing a team of warehouse clerks, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining safety standards while supporting the growth of high-quality branded products.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all inbound receiving and outbound loading duties
- Ensure accurate picking and preparation of orders for routes and customer deliveries
- Maintain inventory control, organization, and warehouse cleanliness
- Coordinate general maintenance of the warehouse and equipment
- Oversee afternoon shift and closing duties
- Manage, recruit, train, and develop a team of warehouse clerks
- Manage attendance, productivity, and performance metrics (KPIs)
- Implement coaching and recognition programs to drive continuous improvement
- Foster a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with OSHA and food safety standards
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and annual audits as a member of the food safety team
- Collaborate with Human Resources on performance expectations and disciplinary actions
- Develop cross-training programs to increase workforce flexibility
- Schedule and allocate labor resources based on workload and business priorities
- Support seasonal readiness, promotional events, and peak planning
- Deliver product to stores or customer warehouses as needed
- Provide back-up coverage for the Route Sales Manager shift as needed
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of warehouse leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience in food distribution and cold chain/perishable operations
- Ability to use material handling equipment, specifically a forklift and pallet jack
- Valid driver’s license with no major driving infractions
- Ability to drive an 18 to 24 foot box truck with liftgate
- Ability to move product weighing up to 50lbs
- Proven experience building and leading high-functioning teams
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Excellent problem-solving and strategic planning skills
- Strong math skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Apple products
