About the Role

The Cheese Team Lead ensures Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and safe work practices are followed for efficient operation and quality production within the Cheese Department. Proficiency in cheese production operations from Milk Receiving through Bulk Pack, including HTST, vats, mixer, brine tanks, CIP systems, milk receiving, P2, DMC, and Noltec, is expected within six months. This role requires the capability to disassemble, assemble, and perform minor adjustments to all cheese production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Train employees on SOP’s, GMP’s, sanitation, safe work practices, and housekeeping, and enforce these policies.
  • Interpret production data to make informed production decisions.
  • Understand all job functions within the Cheese Department.
  • Perform hourly walkthroughs to check temperatures, calibrations, and maintain accurate records.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure efficient operation.
  • Monitor the extraneous program.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, management, and other departments.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic familiarity with all aspects of cheese department operations, including Milk Receiving through Bulk Pack, HTST, vats, mixer, brine tanks, CIP systems, milk receiving, P2, DMC, and Noltec.
  • Must be able to work Sunday - Saturday, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and required overtime to support a 24 hour/7-day operation.

Skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system.
  • Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Two years' experience in a similar position.
  • Prior experience in a leadership position.

Salary/Compensations

  • $31.45 per hour
  • $1 per hour weekend differential
  • $0.75 shift differential for evening hours
