About the Role
The Technical Assistant reports to the Executive Director of the Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) and performs a variety of administrative and data management duties to support departmental and center operations.
Responsibilities
- Provides administrative support to the Executive Director.
- Assembles and coordinates information and complex data related to various departmental and center matters.
- Maintains a system of recordkeeping for the Office of the Executive Director.
- Maintains EOC personnel record systems, both electronic and hard copy.
- Maintains departmental ACCESS databases and interacts with an SCT Banner database.
- Uses Excel spreadsheets for recording, tracking, and execution of departmental functions.
- Organizes and maintains general departmental files, both electronic and hard copy.
- Monitors and tracks the status of program activities.
- Responds to and prepares written communications, reports, and presentations.
- Collaborates with various offices of Hudson Valley Community College to support operations.
- Ensures compliance with SUNY, HVCC, and center policies.
- Assumes responsibility or provides support for assigned activities.
- Attends meetings, records, and distributes minutes.
- Schedules and maintains the administrative calendar of the Executive Director.
- Assists other functional areas of the center as directed.
- Assists with EOC and outside events.
- Performs duties under the direction of the Executive Director, exercising independent judgment and confidentiality.
- Provides supervision of clerical staff as assigned.
- Provides reception coverage as needed.
- Performs all duties in a timely, organized, efficient, and customer service-driven manner.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) or more years of paid work experience in an administrative office setting.
- Proficiency with office software, preferably Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, and Access.
- Demonstrated excellent writing, mathematical, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Skilled communicator, both orally and in written form.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to handle high-level internal and public contact.
- High degree of organizational skill and attention to detail.
- Ability to cope with simultaneous and competing work demands.
