About the Role
We're looking for a motivated Software Engineer to help design, build, and support enterprise AI services at RBC. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your software engineering skills, learn from experienced engineers, and contribute to production AI infrastructure that supports meaningful business and customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of AI services under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Build reliable APIs, backend services, and integration components that support AI and ML applications.
- Learn and apply software engineering best practices, coding standards, and secure development principles.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team ceremonies to improve technical understanding and delivery quality.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, platform, and ML teams to support reliable AI systems across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Write unit tests, integration tests, and documentation to support maintainable and high-quality software.
- Troubleshoot defects, support production issues, and learn observability practices such as logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Grow practical experience with modern engineering tools, cloud platforms, containerization, and AI service development.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of software engineering experience, including internships, co-op placements, academic projects, or equivalent practical experience.
- Foundational understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional programming concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Python, Golang, Java, or similar programming languages.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, backend services, databases, and version control using Git.
- Interest in AI, machine learning, model serving, data platforms, or building software that enables AI-powered applications.
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, and container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Willingness to learn secure coding practices, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, and production support processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and ability to ask thoughtful questions.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset when working with engineers, product teams, and cross-functional partners.
- Commitment to continuous learning and developing technical depth in enterprise software engineering.
