About the Role
Veolia's Sydney Desalination Plant is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the Laboratory and Environmental Supervisor in delivering critical testing and analysis. This role involves working with water treatment technology, developing technical expertise, and contributing to Sydney's water security by performing routine and ad-hoc water sampling and laboratory testing, preparing reports, managing sample preservation, and coordinating external analysis. The position also includes troubleshooting plant operations and driving continuous improvement in laboratory processes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct water sampling and laboratory testing using field and laboratory equipment
- Conduct bench scale laboratory testing and investigations to support troubleshooting and optimisation of on site water treatment processes
- Identify and implement improvements to laboratory processes for safety, efficiency, and ease of operation
- Prepare comprehensive reports on testing results
- Manage sample delivery, preparation, and external analysis coordination
- Maintain stock levels and quality assurance standards
- Uphold safe systems of work in the laboratory
- Train operations staff on laboratory processes and procedures
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in a chemical or laboratory based discipline
- Demonstrated experience with sampling, preservation methods, and analytical testing
- Experience working in a NATA-accredited laboratory
