About the Role

The Project Manager provides leadership, subject-matter guidance, and technical assistance for policy initiatives. This role manages day-to-day project execution, contributes to program strategy, and supports the delivery of high-quality resources for policymakers and practitioners at state, local, and Tribal levels. The position focuses on the intersection of justice, behavioral health, and housing, including support for the Stepping Up initiative, crisis response, and reentry programs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project planning, budgeting, risk and contract management, and staff coordination.
  • Contribute to the development and success of assigned projects.
  • Solicit and facilitate new project ideas in support of strategic direction.
  • Identify and leverage internal and external opportunities to advance project priorities.
  • Conduct calls with sites to address technical assistance needs and implementation best practices.
  • Collaborate with Research/Data Science staff to support data analysis and dashboard design.
  • Develop written products including policy briefs, research memos, and presentations.
  • Supervise and develop the skills of direct reports and provide task direction.
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward key project stakeholders and funders.
  • Engage new contacts in the field to serve as consultants or partners.
  • Collaborate with partners to design innovative initiatives and manage consultant contracts.
  • Participate in organizational project management and stakeholder engagement processes.
  • Contribute to internal committees or working groups to strengthen knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all project deliverables and adherence to timelines.
  • Support evaluation of project impact and contribute to refinements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience and/or equivalent educational achievements.
  • Familiarity with the intersection of justice, behavioral health, and housing.
  • Ability to supervise staff and support professional development.
  • Ability to lead and manage project teams to deliver on goals.
  • Demonstrated success in developing strategic project plans.
  • Experience managing large projects across multiple teams and external partners.
  • Submission of a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and three professional references.
