About the Role

This position involves ownership of planning and overseeing quality and production improvements, using verification and production ramp-up of tooling and equipment involved in assembling instruments, controls, and monitors for the Electric Utility Transmission and Distribution Industry.

Responsibilities

• Ownership and development of area process improvement and project portfolio.
• Investigate, analyze, develop, and determine processes and process improvements for new and existing products.
• Plan equipment layout and workflow to maintain safe and efficient utilization of plant resources.
• Coordinate Kaizen and other continuous improvement activities with emphasis on RBS principles.
• Lead the development of new methods, tooling, test systems, and machine designs to reduce cycle time and improve productivity and quality.
• Lead the planning, research, design, and development of manufacturing engineering projects.
• Own troubleshooting of internal and external quality issues by performing root cause analysis and driving corrective and preventative actions.
• Mentor and coach peers and early career engineers.
• Perform duties in accordance with established quality standards.
• Perform similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required.
• Actively support Health, Safety, and Environmental rules and regulations.

Requirements

• BS Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 7+ years in a lean manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated analytical/statistical problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with statistical methods and software (Minitab, JMP, etc.).
• Proficient in database tools and ability to use programming language for modifying/maintaining databases and reporting.
• Proven experience in process improvement, problem solving, and knowledge of process control methodologies (DMAIC, 6 Sigma, Lean, SPC).
• DFM and/or Lean production flow knowledge.
• Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO9001) and demonstrated proficiency with quality tools (MSA, R&R, PFMEA).
• Hands-on mechanical ability, solving tooling and equipment challenges.
• Ability to integrate and work well in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to provide positive, consistent communication with associates throughout the organization.
• Organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• CAPEX project management experience.
• Driven to get results and make impactful changes.
• Demonstrated ability to own and manage change.
