About the Role
Assists maître d’ with checking in and managing the seating of all guests, both reservations and walk-ins. Acknowledges and interacts with the restaurant guests, fellow team members, and supervisors in a polite and courteous manner to ensure gracious hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Anticipate and accommodate guest needs with professionalism and courtesy
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the entrance area and overall venue
- Comply with Department of Health regulations and company sanitation standards
- Actively take, confirm, and manage guest reservations
- Assist with incoming calls and answer guest questions
- Assist the maître d’ in optimizing reservation flow and seating availability to accommodate as many walk-ins as possible, ensuring seamless shift operations
- Provide initial table setup support to the dining room team
- Properly set-up front desk area, perform side-work and other opening/closing procedures as directed by management
- Print and organize current menus
- Complete all assigned opening and closing side work
- Report any breakage or damage to equipment or furniture promptly to management
- Attend and actively participate in daily pre-service meetings and training sessions
- Learn through observation and collaboration, and lead by example
- Maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times
- Demonstrate knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partner brands, and the surrounding hotel environment when applicable
- Collaborate with and support fellow team members to ensure seamless service
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year host experience or equivalent related Tao Group Hospitality experience required
- Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant/nightclub/lounge
- Ability to write, read, and verbally communicate
- Must have good positive energy throughout the day
- Must be able to print legibly for Team Members, management, and guests to read
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to move quickly
- Must be able to push and lift up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance
- Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company standards
- Must be effective as part of a team; ability to interact with internal and external customers, managers, and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment
