About the Role
NewYork-Presbyterian is seeking a Rehabilitation Specialist/Music Therapist to provide assessments and therapeutic group therapy programming for medically compromised and psychiatric/behavioral health in-patients & out-patient services. This role involves working with a multi-disciplinary team to enhance inpatient activity and programs, and collaborating with other departments and community groups.
Responsibilities
- Provide assessments and therapeutic group therapy programming to meet individual needs and treatment goals of medically compromised and psychiatric/behavioral health in-patients & out-patient services.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to enhancing inpatient activity and programs.
- Collaborate with other departments and community groups to enhance programs on the unit.
Requirements
- 1-3 years’ experience working with adults, geriatrics in an acute inpatient hospital setting.
- Board Certified.
- Proficient in modalities pertaining to specific Creative Arts Therapy Discipline (e.g. guitar, piano etc.).
- License in Mental Health Counseling, Creative Arts Therapy or Occupational Therapy from New York State Department of Education.
- Certification in Therapeutic Recreation by National Council for Therapeutic Recreation or Certification as Occupational Therapy Assistant by New York State Department of Education.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Knowledge of dual diagnosis, principles and practices of 12 step programs, and the application of psychosocial rehabilitation for that population.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- All roles require on-site presence.
- Employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.
