About the Role
The Health Center Manager oversees all operational and clinical performance, ensuring daily staffing, managing patient issues, and adhering to the budget and strategic plan. This role is the on-site authority responsible for the overall functioning of the health center.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the daily operations and staffing of the center.
- Directly supervises staff, including hiring, orienting, training, performance management, and separation.
- Meets or exceeds visit goals through operational management, scheduling, and staffing.
- Adheres to the health center budget and prepares annual operating and capital budgets.
- Maintains control over and accountability for health center inventories, purchases, supplies, and petty cash.
- Ensures all staff are trained to offer excellent customer service and quality care.
- Acts as a customer service role model and provides feedback to staff.
- Holds daily huddles to ensure clear communication of information, schedules, and staffing.
- Manages daily health center flow, motivates the team, maintains goals, and incorporates staff input.
- Is accountable for health center performance versus monthly budget volumes and shares statistical information.
- Routinely reviews and analyzes reports on service visits, budgets, billing, finances, and other performance measurements.
- Facilitates the work of on-site clinicians for efficiency, productivity, and quality patient care.
- Builds a successful health center team and communicates effectively, making proactive suggestions regarding staffing.
- Conducts bi-weekly individual supervision meetings with staff to address operational issues.
- Completes probationary and annual performance reviews timely with meaningful feedback.
- Develops and completes performance improvement plans or disciplinary actions in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Ensures staff proficiency in the electronic health record and practice management system.
- Participates in the surgical abortion service as an on-site "Flow Facilitator" rotation.
- Demonstrates flexibility and teamwork, understanding interactions with other positions.
- Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies, and standard practices, including HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, DOH, and PPFA Elements of Performance.
- Works closely with Human Resources on staff performance issues and contributes to recruitment and retention.
- Participates in company Compliance, Risk & Quality Management Committee and other workgroups.
- Completes health center audits and subsequent corrective actions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Regional Director.
- Attends company meetings as assigned.
- Provides coverage as a health center manager for other health centers as needed.
- Works closely with Human Resources, IT, Finance, and Facilities/Purchasing to ensure systems function effectively.
- Supports and encourages a culture of information sharing, feedback, customer satisfaction, and system improvement.
- Regularly checks personal company email accounts for communications, at least every 24 hours.
- Responds timely to all communications, including email and phone calls.
Requirements
- Three to five years of relevant on-site management experience or equivalent, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to participate in all levels of operations to assure maximal performance of the health center.
- Qualified driver's license and daily availability to an automobile.
- Adheres to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time, and client complaint resolution.
- Holds clinical staff accountable to specific measurable customer service standards.
- Builds and maintains positive, quality relationships with customers, both internal and external.
- Demonstrates commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
- Responds positively to customer concerns and demonstrates effective problem-solving skills.

- Must be a professional-level English speaker.
