About the Role

ICON is seeking a UX professional to lead the user experience for a core product area within BuildOS, ICON's software platform for the construction industry. This role involves end-to-end UX work, from research to design handoff, shaping the development of tools that connect users to ICON's construction technology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct customer interviews to understand workflows, pain points, and unmet needs.
  • Map complex user workflows and edge cases.
  • Design for a range of users with varying levels of software fluency.
  • Define data needs, integration points, and error states.
  • Create wireframes, interaction flows, and interactive prototypes using Figma or similar tools.
  • Deliver functional, polished, and clear designs.
  • Build and test prototypes with target users regularly.
  • Conduct lightweight usability tests and iterate on designs based on feedback.
  • Verify design feasibility with engineering before handoff.
  • Deliver developer-ready specifications with annotated designs and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate daily with engineers, product leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Present design choices clearly to stakeholders and customers.
  • Align design work with company OKRs to drive larger goals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in UX design, product design, or a similar role.
  • A portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work, including research and shipped products.
  • Experience conducting user interviews and translating qualitative research into design decisions.
  • Strong proficiency with Figma or similar tools for wireframing, prototyping, and design systems.
  • Experience designing for workflows with real-world constraints.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain design choices to diverse audiences.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and defining problems.
