About the Role
As a Chief Engineer, you will lead engineering teams, manage project goals, negotiate with vendors, and ensure property maintenance standards are met. You will play a critical role in overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while fostering a collaborative environment to deliver high-quality service to clients.
Responsibilities
- Assign tasks to engineering teams and set project goals
- Negotiate with vendors and clients
- Ensure projects remain within time and budgetary constraints
- Compile reports for assigned properties
- Participate in the annual budget process
- Develop specifications and administer maintenance/repair service contracts
- Oversee construction, tenant improvement, and capital projects
- Ensure compliance with codes, OSHA requirements, and company SOPs
- Develop long-term strategic plans and property forecasting
- Supervise, lead, schedule, and train staff
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Implement energy-saving and sustainability measures
- Interact with employees, visitors, and contractors with diplomacy
- Maintain availability for shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
- 7 years of experience in Commercial Building Operations, Property Management, or related industry
- Knowledge of commercial base building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, and life safety systems
- Proficiency in reading and understanding as-built and construction drawings
- Ability to use power tools including drills, saws, grinders, and impact wrenches
- Ability to compute basic mathematical equations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to access remote work areas and confined spaces
- Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, and walking
- Obtain required city or government licenses or permits as applicable
