About the Role

As a Chief Engineer, you will lead engineering teams, manage project goals, negotiate with vendors, and ensure property maintenance standards are met. You will play a critical role in overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems while fostering a collaborative environment to deliver high-quality service to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Assign tasks to engineering teams and set project goals
  • Negotiate with vendors and clients
  • Ensure projects remain within time and budgetary constraints
  • Compile reports for assigned properties
  • Participate in the annual budget process
  • Develop specifications and administer maintenance/repair service contracts
  • Oversee construction, tenant improvement, and capital projects
  • Ensure compliance with codes, OSHA requirements, and company SOPs
  • Develop long-term strategic plans and property forecasting
  • Supervise, lead, schedule, and train staff
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Implement energy-saving and sustainability measures
  • Interact with employees, visitors, and contractors with diplomacy
  • Maintain availability for shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience in Commercial Building Operations, Property Management, or related industry
  • Knowledge of commercial base building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, and life safety systems
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding as-built and construction drawings
  • Ability to use power tools including drills, saws, grinders, and impact wrenches
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical equations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in emergencies
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to access remote work areas and confined spaces
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, squatting, bending, kneeling, and walking
  • Obtain required city or government licenses or permits as applicable
