About the Role
Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) for The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) is responsible for delivering medical care, mental health care, and discharge planning within the jail system. The mental health service provides comprehensive and unique treatment modalities for a diverse range of mental health issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, team-based psychiatric care, including psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic interventions.
- Provide psychiatric care, including admission evaluations, follow-ups, and urgent/emergent consultations.
- Consult with non-prescribing mental health staff and medical staff regarding diagnosis, treatment, and psychiatric medication.
- Participate in daily or weekly team meetings with treatment staff.
- Create and review individual treatment plans for patients.
- Evaluate patients for the need for a higher level of care, including hospitalizations, and ensure continuity of care.
- Document all activities in the electronic medical record.
- Provide clinical supervision as needed for psychiatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
- Engage in weekly clinical supervision with Psychiatric leadership.
- Provide clinical supervision for psychiatric volunteers, including direct supervision and feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine degree.
- New York State license to practice Medicine, in good standing.
- Completion of a 4-yr. US accredited psychiatric residency program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry by the ABPN.
- At least 2 years' experience caring for individuals with serious mental illness in an institutional setting.
- Ability to work closely and effectively with multiple disciplines, including security staff.

- $113.90 - $113.90 Hourly
