About the Role

Humber River Health is seeking two community members to serve as volunteers on the Research Ethics Board (REB). The board is responsible for reviewing proposed scientific research studies to ensure the protection of human participants, considering scientific, ethical, regulatory, and legal factors.

Responsibilities

  • Review proposed scientific research studies
  • Ensure the protection of human participants in research
  • Attend monthly virtual meetings
  • Dedicate approximately 4 hours per month to preparation and review

Requirements

  • Lived experience with the healthcare system as a patient, family member, caregiver, or research participant
  • Interest in hospital-based research
  • Ability to attend virtual meetings on Thursday evenings from 5-7pm
  • Adequate time and interest in volunteering
