About the Role

Performs diagnostic sonography, participates in invasive procedures utilizing ultrasound guidance, and manages data collection and organization of ultrasound rooms.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintains, and disseminates departmental or functional specific policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents, and orders as authorized.
  • Ensures facilities and equipment are in optimal working condition, coordinating maintenance and repairs.
  • Attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
  • Assists current and new employees with systems, equipment, and departmental policies.
  • Greets patients, triages them through the patient flow process, and assists with mobility and preparation for exams.
  • Reviews and verifies patient identity, history, and requisition for the exam.
  • Inputs patient history information into the practice management system and scans relevant medical documentation.
  • Ensures patient safety and maintains a sterile environment, observing standard infection control precautions.
  • Assists with the review of cases and literature regarding patient care and research protocols.
  • Implements technical data, organizes record keeping, and data collection.
  • Performs sonograms and procedures requiring ultrasound guidance, such as core biopsies and FNAs.
  • Explains procedures to patients and answers any questions.
  • Accompanies providers into the exam room, updates patient history, and inputs patient data into the practice management system.

Requirements

  • Approximately 2 years of experience working in clinical ultrasonography.
  • Experience as a registered technologist in another radiology modality may be applicable.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required to obtain within one year of hire date.
  • BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association).

  • Ability to exercise standards of professionalism, including appearance, presentation, and demeanor.
