About the Role

This role supports US actuarial reporting, data analysis, and reporting modernization. You will collaborate with business and technical teams to understand needs, investigate data issues, and deliver practical reporting solutions, including querying data, improving reports, and building new solutions for valuation processes. You will also manage change requests through JIRA.

Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and optimize SQL queries to pull, transform, and validate large datasets.
  • Review Quarter-end and Year-end valuation data to identify trends, explain variances, and investigate data anomalies.
  • Build and maintain data models that support QlikView and Power BI reporting.
  • Create and improve dashboards for reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Validate and reconcile data across source systems, reporting layers, and downstream outputs.
  • Automate recurring data checks and controls to improve accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Troubleshoot data issues by tracing logic across ETL steps, source data, and reporting dependencies.
  • Support SIT and UAT by validating results, documenting findings, and confirming business requirements are met.
  • Document data lineage and source-to-target mappings for clarity, traceability, and audit readiness.
  • Work with platforms such as Azure SQL, Data Lake, and Databricks for reporting and data analysis.
  • Use Python for analysis, automation, or repeatable data checks.
  • Turn reporting needs into clear, actionable requirements by working with business and technical teams.
  • Manage enhancement requests in JIRA, including intake, prioritization, tracking, and follow-up.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, and status updates.
  • Coordinate SIT and UAT activities with business users, developers, and other partners.
  • Communicate data issues clearly, explain their impact, and help identify practical next steps.
  • Support release readiness, deployment validation, and post-release checks.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify reporting processes, reduce manual work, and improve controls.
  • Keep documentation current for requirements, testing, decisions, and governance needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience writing SQL queries and working with large datasets.
  • Good understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data flow through reporting layers.
  • Experience building or supporting reports in QlikView, Power BI, or similar BI tools.
  • Ability to analyze data, investigate issues, and explain findings clearly.
  • Exposure to Azure SQL, Data Lake, or Databricks is helpful.
  • Python or a similar scripting language is preferred, especially for automation or repeatable analysis.
  • Comfortable turning business questions into data analysis, reporting logic, or dashboard requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with both business and technical partners.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment or supporting sprint-based delivery.
  • Familiarity with JIRA or a similar tool for tracking work and managing requests.
  • Experience supporting SIT, UAT, or other testing and validation cycles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, especially during Quarter-end and Year-end reporting periods.
  • Proactive, practical, and willing to look for better ways to get the work done.
