About the Role
Trocaire College is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach General Chemistry I and II lecture and laboratory courses. The role focuses on providing engaging, student-centered instruction that supports the College's Mercy mission and prepares students for success in health and science fields.
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned General Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses according to learning objectives.
- Deliver instruction on foundational chemistry topics including atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, and kinetics.
- Provide laboratory instruction focused on scientific measurement, data analysis, and experimental procedures.
- Model and enforce laboratory safety practices and proper chemical handling.
- Develop course content, assignments, and assessments aligned with learning objectives.
- Maintain an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative learning environment.
- Utilize the learning management system for course administration and communication.
- Maintain a syllabus, hold office hours, and report grades and attendance.
- Provide timely academic support and feedback to students.
- Track and report student learning outcome assessment data.
- Build student relationships and promote academic accountability.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Chemistry or a closely related discipline with graduate-level coursework.
- Academic, teaching, laboratory, or professional experience in chemistry.
- Knowledge of chemical laboratory safety procedures.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and written communication skills.
- Commitment to the Mercy mission and supporting diverse learning environments.
