About the Role

Random House Children’s Books is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative Publicist to join its Publicity team. This role will develop and execute dynamic publicity campaigns for celebrity, brand, and licensed publishing programs, connecting exceptional books with readers through creative media outreach, event planning, strategic partnerships, and memorable campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee publicity campaigns for assigned titles and support senior members on high-profile campaigns.
  • Collaborate with external brand partners, including Disney and National Geographic, to develop and execute integrated publicity campaigns.
  • Develop and manage relationships with authors, illustrators, and media contacts.
  • Pitch and secure media coverage across trade and consumer outlets.
  • Execute national multi-city author tours, costume character tours, in-store events, school appearances, and festival opportunities.
  • Liaise with internal Marketing, Sales, and Editorial teams, and work with authors/illustrators, booksellers, and reviewers to create cohesive campaigns.
  • Meet with top media contacts to promote the book list seasonally.
  • Support the department by managing team processes and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience and/or interest in Children’s publishing is preferred.
  • Ability to conceptualize creative ideas for securing coverage and planning events.
  • Ability to travel to support author appearances, book festivals, and special events.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the media landscape; existing relationships with book reviewers are a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • High sense of urgency and ability to problem-solve calmly in emergency situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Social media savvy in the book publicity space.
