About the Role

American Packaging Corporation (APC) is seeking a production supervisor to oversee manufacturing operations. This role involves direct supervision of production employees, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards are met. Responsibilities

  • Lead safety efforts and participate in safety programs, making observations and conducting incident investigations.
  • Manage and ensure the operation of assigned machines 24/7, including housekeeping and the 5s program.
  • Conduct daily meetings with assigned personnel to review safety, maintenance, production numbers, and customer complaints.
  • Evaluate employees assigned to the shift and prepare for upcoming jobs.
  • Coordinate with maintenance for work orders and preventative maintenance.
  • Facilitate on-the-job training for team members on equipment use, safety, and operating procedures.
  • Serve as the management representative for plant operations on off-shifts and weekends.
  • Approve color matching for presses and communicate with Department Managers on process and personnel issues.
  • Make decisions regarding troubleshooting and employee issues, and enforce plant procedures and policies.
  • Process shift reports, analyze production, and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Sign off on Finishing run sheets, ensuring correct specifications and schedule accuracy.
  • Lead teams addressing production, manufacturing, and safety issues.
  • Conduct daily 5s shift audits and prepare daily production status reports.
  • Ensure Raw Material Rejections have required MFG data and coordinate priorities with maintenance and engineers.
  • Inspect and sign off on all retains to ensure good quality product is being produced.
  • Manage cylinder check sheets and adjust crews to minimize overtime while meeting goals.
  • Ensure OK sheets are filled out and checked off.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs.
