About the Role

The Iona University Athletic Department is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to provide preventative and rehabilitative healthcare to student-athletes, with sports assignments including Men's Lacrosse and Men's Water Polo.

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training services to student-athletes for practices and games.
  • Determine course of treatments for injured athletes.
  • Consult with the Head Athletic Trainer and/or refer to Team Physician as needed.
  • Maintain athletic training equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Provide athletic training services for all varsity sports.
  • Travel required for assigned sports.
  • Attend scheduled team practices and games.
  • Perform injury prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning.
  • Assist Sports Medicine Team with Pre-Participation Physical Examinations.
  • Refer Iona student-athletes to Team Physician, Specialist, Emergency Room, or other Allied Health Care Provider when appropriate.
  • Develop and implement rehabilitation programs individualized to student-athletes under prescribed guidelines by Team Physician.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized Athletic Training Room.
  • Meet NATA continuing education requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of New York.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
