About the Role

Ambience is building AI systems that help clinicians deliver better care. This leadership role involves managing clinical AI Individual Contributors (ICs) across two product pods, with a focus on hands-on work, technical guidance, and clinical quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop approximately 5 clinical AI ICs across two pods.
• Own the clinical AI roadmap, quality, and delivery for assigned pods.
• Carry out hands-on projects including prompting, evaluation design, error analysis, and clinical content work.
• Review team members' work and provide guidance on evaluation and prompting decisions.
• Ensure clinical quality by applying physician judgment to AI outputs and representing the clinical perspective.
• Coach ICs on execution habits such as project planning, timelines, and proactive communication.
• Interview and evaluate candidates for team growth.

Requirements

• Physician (MD or DO) with completed residency and clinical practice experience.
• 3-5+ years of experience at a tech company post-residency or concurrently.
• Experience managing formal direct reports at a tech company.
• Technically fluent with some coding ability and comfort with AI concepts.
• Ability to understand and review technical work.
• Strong executor: reliable, organized, and proactive.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing problems.
• Willingness to work from the San Francisco office 3x/week.

Skills

• Hands-on LLM product experience (prompting, evaluations, error analysis) is a strong plus.
• Startup experience is a plus.
• Excitement for the pace and ownership of a startup is a must.
