About the Role
Perplexity is seeking a Design Engineer to transform perplexity.com into a growth engine by building product launch pages, campaign landing pages, and supporting components. This role requires a blend of design sensibility, attention to detail, and the ability to quickly translate creative concepts into polished, shipped products.
Responsibilities
- Ship product launch pages and evergreen marketing pages for products like Comet, Computer, Deep Research, Search, and Hub, owning the work from Figma handoff to production.
- Partner with brand designers to build interactive experiences that enhance site engagement.
- Maintain and extend the brand design system and component library, ensuring synchronization between Figma and production.
- Collaborate with paid ads and growth teams to conduct A/B tests on landing pages, popups, and upsell modules, analyzing results and iterating.
- Migrate Framer collections to Sanity, model schemas for non-engineers, and help ship new content types.
- Design and independently solve problems when design resources are limited.
- Improve tools related to the work, including CMS workflows, i18n, SEO, experimentation, and internal marketing self-serve tools.
- Identify and fix manual processes that impede team efficiency.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a front-end or design engineer, preferably on a marketing or growth site.
- A portfolio showcasing previous work on marketing sites and design.
- Strong skills in React, CSS, and modern frameworks.
- Deep understanding of responsive design and design-to-code workflows, staying current with platform advancements.
- Experience maintaining a reusable component library and focusing on design details in code.
- A keen eye for design and the ability to distinguish between 'almost right' and 'actually right'.
- Exceptional attention to detail, noticing minor misalignments, incorrect easing curves, or typographic issues.
- Stellar communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to defend decisions, provide constructive pushback, and explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
- Desire to thrive in a fast-paced environment, continuously learn, and master their craft.
