About the Role
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is seeking a Business Operations Intern to join the Business Operations team for a 12-month internship starting in August 2026. This role focuses on providing B2B support by triaging inbound requests from internal teams, publishers, and customers, while supporting operational improvements through data collection and documentation maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming tickets from ebook and audiobook publishers and KWL authors
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve or escalate audiobook and ebook issues
- Review and analyze recurring issues to provide recommendations
- Create and pull catalogue reports using SQL or internal content management systems
- Communicate investigation and resolution updates to client, development, and delivery teams
- Maintain and update process documentation for audiobooks, ebooks, and KWL
- Support ad-hoc projects for Business Operations, Content, and Kobo Writing Life
- Conduct research into digital publishing standards and topics
Requirements
- College or university education or equivalent course study
- Strong interest in digital media, books, self-publishing, and technology
- General understanding of the book industry including ISBNs, ONIX files, and .epub formats
- Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUP, data concatenation, and pivot tables
- Detail and task-oriented with strong research and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Strong professional communication skills for email and external stakeholder interaction
- Familiarity with the Kobo ecosystem, apps, devices, or Kobo Writing Life
