About the Role

Capital One Ventures (COV) is the strategic investment arm of Capital One, seeking to invest in and partner with cutting-edge technology startups. COV identifies opportunities that drive financial return and strategic impact, enhancing customer experiences. The Venture Investing team supports strategy, sourcing, investing, and monitoring for a portfolio of venture capital investments that accelerate Capital One’s strategic priorities, focusing on direct investment strategy while supporting broader team initiatives.

Responsibilities

Map and landscape companies and sectors to drive top-of-funnel outreach and relationship development, generating vetted new opportunities in target technology categories.
Manage due diligence, financial analysis, and target evaluation for transaction opportunities, including preparing investment memos, overseeing legal negotiations, and managing deal execution.
Collaborate with Capital One to identify and scope opportunities and sectors of interest, developing and presenting investment theses and opportunities relevant to specific technology areas.
Engage proactively in strategic planning and portfolio development, including leading data collection, contributing to reporting, developing commercial opportunities with portfolio companies, and supporting portfolio management and compliance analyses.
Provide mentorship and partnership to team members across the Ventures organization and serve as a cultural ambassador.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree
At least 3 years of professional experience in finance, strategy or technology
At least 4+ years of experience in venture capital, technology product management, private equity, investment banking, software engineering, AI, startup operations, or technology strategy consulting
Knowledge of startup technology development lifecycles from equity financing through monetization
Demonstrated ability to source, evaluate and execute venture capital transactions
