About the Role
The Analyst, Securities Operations is responsible for the daily processing of derivatives and marketable transactions, including trade capture, cash payments, and maintaining asset information throughout its lifecycle. This role involves complex trade processing and requires comprehensive knowledge of multiple product types. The Analyst will coordinate and liaise with various internal and external groups, including Investment Management, Investment Finance, custodians, financial counterparties, and IT.
Responsibilities
- Accurately, timely, and completely capture trades for all capital market instruments, including fixed income, equities, and derivatives.
- Reconcile, troubleshoot, and confirm settlement of daily variation margin for Futures, Listed Options, and centrally cleared OTC swaps.
- Liaise with external counterparties to verify and validate cash movements for derivative settlement and input payments.
- Provide reporting to Investment Finance and Investment Management, including Cash Flow Projection, Trade Blotter, Hedge check reports, and reconciliation reports.
- Perform daily position reconciliation between HOOPP and Custodian positions, addressing discrepancies.
- Process corporate actions as required.
- Evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Liaise with other departments within Investment Finance to resolve issues.
- Assist project groups with the implementation and testing of ongoing projects.
- Participate actively in teamwork and knowledge sharing within Securities Operations and Investment Finance.
- Build and transfer knowledge with other Analysts and back up critical daily activities.
Requirements
- University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline.
- Completion or enrollment in a professional designation program (e.g., CFA).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the financial sector, preferably in capital markets.
- Strong knowledge of capital market instruments including fixed income and equities.
- Strong knowledge of derivative instruments such as swaps, options, and futures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive self-starter, highly motivated, and results-oriented.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Identify and implement process improvements where necessary.

- Relevant computer literacy is mandatory.

Salary/Compensations
- $71,000 - $109,000 CAD
