About the Role
This seasonal, non-exempt (hourly) onsite role is responsible for the proper storage, disbursement, packaging, and care of all GGC-owned or rented equipment before, during, and after catering events.
Responsibilities
- Inventory and assign equipment to the proper area
- Coordinate with other vendors to set up equipment depots and staging areas
- Direct staff to load/unload equipment from trucks
- Read and understand Event Detail Sheets (EDS) and Equipment Pack Lists (EPL)
- Make on-site decisions regarding equipment staging if timelines change
- Operate handheld radios to communicate with staff and managers
- Set up and maintain equipment bussing, compost, and recycling areas
- Set up coffee brewing stations, test brewers, and brew coffee
- Attend staff meetings to provide guidance on equipment handling, bussing, and cleaning
- Direct staff on how to break down, pack, and load equipment
- Monitor for damaged or missing equipment
- Clean and organize the equipment area
- Perform final cleanup of event staging areas
- Utilize fire extinguishers in the event of a fire
- Perform other duties as requested by the Executive Event Service Manager and Event Service Associate
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of catering or banquet experience
- Experience with catering equipment, event setup, and breakdown
- Knowledge of catering event equipment, including names, functions, and proper use
- Excellent customer service experience (minimum of 1 year)
- Strong active listening, verbal and written communication, coordination, time management, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in basic mathematics for inventory tracking and event logistics
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities to address on-site operational challenges
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify operational issues
- Strong oral and written comprehension
- Valid driver's license
- Food Handler Certification
- Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) Certification
- Serving experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- 2 years of management or supervisory experience
- Constant standing and walking (more than 6 hours per day)
- Frequent lifting (up to 10 lbs)
- Occasional lifting (26-50 lbs)
- Rare lifting (51-75 lbs)
- Frequent to constant grasping, reaching, finger dexterity, and use of firm/light pinch grips
