About the Role
The US Oncology Network is seeking a Patient Services Representative to support the South Austin location of Texas Oncology. This full-time position offers a Monday-Friday schedule with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The role can be filled at a Level 1, 2, or Sr, depending on the candidate's experience.
Responsibilities
- Schedule new patients, patient referrals, and returning patients in the computer system.
- Cancel and reschedule appointments according to physician schedule changes and notify appropriate personnel.
- Meet with patients to schedule all future appointments, procedures, or other exams.
- Triage and respond to all incoming scheduling calls accurately and timely.
- Accurately schedule appointments while multi-tasking in a fast-paced medical office.
- Obtain and attach all necessary authorizations and referrals to appointments.
- Maintain the primary office scheduling template.
- Arrange for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
- Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to clinic/practice policies.
- Cover other front office functions as requested.
- Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested.
- Schedule outpatient appointments/testing/surgeries and hospital admissions, including obtaining pre-certification.
- Communicate surgery/test details and potential prep work to patients.
- Inquire about test specifics from necessary parties and gather patient information.
- Utilize basic understanding of medical terminology, coding, and scheduling procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Requires vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges.
- Requires frequent interaction with patients and staff.
