About the Role

The Program Aide provides hands-on personal care and supports safe medication administration for older adults and residents with disabilities in a supportive housing environment. This role assists with daily living activities, including dining, appointment escorts, and recreational engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Administer or assist with self-administration of routine medications per state regulations and organizational policy.
  • Adhere to medication administration rights and infection control practices.
  • Observe and report changes in resident condition, including vitals, cognition, mood, and physical health.
  • Respond to urgent situations according to established protocols.
  • Assist with eating and feeding while following diet orders and safety guidelines.
  • Escort residents to medical appointments and visit hospitalized residents.
  • Facilitate resident participation in recreational activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely service notes, shift logs, and incident reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to assist with transfers and mobility support, including lifting or pushing up to 35–50 lbs.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Sound judgment and ability to remain calm in urgent situations.
  • Basic computer and mobile technology proficiency.
