About the Role

The Cardiac Sonographer provides high-quality patient care utilizing the skills and knowledge of the profession.

Responsibilities

  • Performs echocardiograms and Vascular Ultrasound in accordance with established practices and procedures.
  • Applies knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning and imaging techniques to optimize the quality of ultrasound images.
  • Safely performs all patient care responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing procedure and conditions.
  • Explains procedure in easy-to-understand terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety.
  • Sets-up equipment to administer the particular procedure in a timely fashion.
  • Effectively determines and sets priorities to meet patient needs.
  • Provides proper and accurate documentation of patient care in the patient medical record.
  • Ensures that patients receive timely and appropriate care.
  • Maintains infection control precautions and identifies potential infection control problems.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance activities within the Department.
  • Participates in annual recertification training, compliance training, and HIPAA training, as well as all other mandatory in-service programs.
  • Conforms to policies and regulations governing patient rights and confidentiality of information.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Obtains 15 hours of echo related CME over a 3 year period.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Associates Degree with completion of ultrasound program
  • 2 years related experience in an Outpatient Practice setting
