About the Role
The Power Electronics Engineer will build the hardware between the generator shaft and the customer's bus, focusing on a high-voltage DC architecture.
Responsibilities
- Design and integrate power conversion hardware, including converters, protection, sensing, and control interfaces.
- Design custom hardware blocks from schematic through layout, magnetics, thermal, and EMC.
- Specify, qualify, and integrate hardware from partners and suppliers.
- Test power conversion hardware on a test stand with a real machine and troubleshoot issues.
Requirements
- Experience designing power converters at real power levels (DC-DC, inverters, rectifiers, chargers).
- Experience with wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC and GaN).
- Experience taking at least one converter from schematic through layout, magnetics, thermal, and EMC to working hardware.
- Comfortable with bench work, including bring-up, debug, and instrumentation.
- Discipline to find root cause instead of swapping parts.
