About the Role
The San Francisco, CA office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 law firm, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to foster a positive and productive work environment through effective conflict resolution, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and employment laws. This role also involves championing a culture of a welcoming and respectful workplace for all.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships and serve as a trusted resource to firm management to enhance employee engagement, productivity, morale, and policy consistency.
- Partner with firm managers on day-to-day human resources issues, providing prompt attention and timely follow-up.
- Provide guidance to firm managers on employee concerns, complaints, and conflicts, developing processes for effective resolution while maintaining confidentiality and promoting a respectful workplace.
- Provide input into annual performance evaluation processes, including communication with managers and employees, and assisting management with performance results delivery.
- Act as a resource for managers regarding employee performance issues, aiding in the determination of appropriate disposition, guiding performance improvement plans, and liaising with HR leadership and firm counsel.
- Assist managers with requests for staff promotions, relocations, or other transfers, including obtaining business reasoning, approvals, and liaising with HR teams to implement changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and/or disciplinary processes.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire trust and confidence across all firm levels.
- Exceptional judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally within the firm.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proven ability to be flexible, handle shifting priorities and multiple projects while meeting deadlines and staying organized.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Advanced ability to work in the Microsoft Office Suite.
