About the Role
McCarthy Tétrault is seeking a Proposal Specialist to join their team in Toronto or Montreal. This role supports proposal and pitch development, content improvement, and project leadership within a hybrid work environment. The position is to fill an existing vacancy.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of responses to RFPs, RFIs, EOIs, pitch materials, and collateral.
- Understand the legal market and collaborate with lawyers to develop client-centric proposals.
- Draft responses to RFPs, RFIs, EOIs, pitch materials, and collateral in collaboration with lawyers and the Clients and Markets team.
- Provide strategic direction, apply proposal best practices, and influence stakeholders to ensure responsive and client-focused proposals.
- Organize and lead kick-off meetings to determine win themes and proposal strategy.
- Create first drafts using internal content and tools.
- Oversee and finalize client-ready pitches and proposals, including production and submission.
- Ensure RFPs, proposals, and pitches are tracked in the Firm’s business development databases.
- Review procurement sites to identify potential new business opportunities.
- Work with lawyers on go/no-go decisions.
- Lead, organize, and coordinate support for in-person pitches, including drafting agendas, speaking notes, presentations, and facilitating dry-run practices.
- Lead and coordinate response development for client reporting requests, liaising with firm stakeholders.
- Support lawyers with time-sensitive client requests for Firm credentials.
- Track proposal opportunities and results in Firm databases.
- Provide support with reporting of proposal statistics.
- Gather and distill client/prospect and industry intelligence to assist lawyers in the proposal process.
- Develop industry- and practice-focused proposal templates to improve efficiency.
- Write and edit proposal content, including differentiators, value propositions, and practice area details.
- Update the Firm proposal tool with approved content.
- Ensure processes and projects are effectively carried out within the Proposal team.
- Lead and support efficiency projects for tools, content, and processes.
- Develop and/or update training tools and resources for the Proposal Team.
- Provide training to team members.
- Provide proposal process and development training to new employees and onboard new Proposal Team members.
- Provide support and input on other critical marketing and business development writing assignments.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant business experience.
- Ideally 2 years of experience in a large professional services organization.
- Professional maturity, including strong interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and set priorities with challenging deadlines.
- Ability to complete designated tasks systematically and logically, with great attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail in writing and editing.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable.

Salary/Compensations
- $90,000 – $105,000 annually (Toronto Only)
